On Saturday March 25, 2017, the CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals (CEE), a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing economic issues affecting Black youth, presents their inaugural CEE Gala: Celebrating Creators and Change Makers in the Community.

From frontline staff to funders and the many community champions across the public and private sectors, we are rolling out the red carpet to honour their work in cultivating youth talent and economic capacity.

This formal affair will be hosted by G98.7 personality Mark Strong and CEE Alumni and recording artist Lola Lawson. The evening will feature a cocktail hour, an award ceremony, dinner, dancing and live acts with a special performance by Juno Award-winning rapper and songwriter Shad K and Erik Flowchild accompanied by his band.

Awards and Recipients:
The following awards will be presented to community professionals and the graduating cohort of the CEE Kitchen Masters Culinary Program: The recipients are:
1. CEE Community Award: Samentia Wilson and Grace Mukhurane, Black Creek Community Health Centre
2. CEE Ambassador Award: Walied Khogali
3. CEE Partnership Award: Dirty Bird Chicken and Waffles
4. CEE Alumni Award: Shirlon Marshall, CEE Alumni – Kitchen Masters Program 2015/16
5. CEE Certificate of Program Completion: 10 youth graduates of the Kitchen Masters Program 2016/17 .

The roster of speakers and award presenters includes:
1. Michael Coteau, MPP – Minister of Children and Youth Services who will address the graduates.
2. Mitzie Hunter, MPP – Minister of Education
3. Peter Tabuns, MPP Toronto-Danforth– Climate Change, Environment and Energy critic for the Ontario NDP
4. Patrick Walter Brown, MPP – Leader, Official Opposition
5. Ginella Massa, City TV News Reporter
About CEE
Since 2013, CEE has evolved from a grassroots program in Jane and Finch into a non-profit organization that has empowered hundreds of Black youth to see beyond their limits. Career Development services in areas of industry exposure, employability, entrepreneurship and social support are delivered by the 9 staff members at CEE together with community partners, placement students and volunteers.
